Aromatherapy
What is Aromatherapy?
In ancient times, the emphasis was on taking these substances during
wellness rather than during illness. Today Aromatherapy is especially
useful with stress-related conditions and for strengthening the immune
system.
What are Essentials Oils?
They are the hormones of the planet, the essences being extracted
from the flower, leaves, stems, barks and roots of aromatic plants.
They are marvellously antiseptic, bactericidal, anti-viral, anti-fungal.
Carrier Oils
Also referred to as base oils. When we use essential oils for a massage
treatment we have to add them to a fixed oil, ideally cold-pressed
vegetable oil, as most essential oils on their own are too strong to
use neat on the skin.
Pulse Oils
These are more concentrated than massage oils and have a nine part pure
essential oil to one part base oil, such as Jojoba. a dab can then be
worked well into the wrist pulse, behind ears, front of foot or solar
plexus. These can be bought from
Caution: Keep all oils away from children - if taken internally
some oils can prove highly dangerous. Some oils can irritate the skin
if applied neat. If in doubt ask a qualified Aromatherapist. Certain
oils should not be used in cases of pregnancy or with people who suffer
from epilepsy. Again consult a qualified Aromatherapist for advice. Do
not use citrus oils on skin before exposure to the sun.
Benefits of Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy can benefit almost everyone at any stage of life. Daily
use at home and regular treatments by an Aromatherapist can
lead to fundamental improvements in energy and the overcoming of very
serious physical, mental, emotional or spiritual problems.
